2024-(P) NGC MS-70 One of First 50,000 Issued Star Privy 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin
The US Mint has debuted the first Silver Eagle privy coin ever produced with this Star Privy release. Privy coins are best described as coins with a small, unique indentifying mark on an otherwise bulk produced bullion strike. Privy coins have been popular since the early 2010s, with other sovereign mints releasing a variety of privy coins each with their own unique collectible twist. This coin is the first ever US Mint Silver Eagle privy coin, featuring a Star Privy on the Obverse.
The American Silver Eagle is the most popular silver bullion coin in the world with mintages exceeding 20 million coins annually; this special release adds collectible value with the first ever privy mark on a Silver Eagle while also being struck at the iconic Philadelphia Mint. Inspired by a video game company, this coin presents a fascinating opportunity to own one of the most rare Silver Eagle coins in the world.
The initial wave of coins from the US Mint with this Privy mark were primarily made for grading purposes. Those coins are now being distributed across the marketplace. The remainder of the 500,000 total mintage are expected to be released in late November of 2024. Customers buying raw (non-graded) coins now from other sellers are receiving coins that did not meet grading targets, otherwise known as grading "rejects".

The Design
Adolph A. Weinman designed “The Walking Liberty,” which showcases Lady Liberty walking towards the sun rays enveloped in the American flag.
As she walks, Lady Liberty stretches one arm to welcome new inhabitants with the oak and laurel branches she carries.
It also displays the year of issuance, the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” aside, and the five-pointed star privy mark on the right.
The new reverse design was introduced in US Silver Eagles in 2021 and designed by Emily Damstra.
It showcases the Bald Eagle perched on a branch with open wings. The engravings encircle the whole image and read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER,” added by the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
