The cinematographic industries have intensely explored this fear, giving life to colossal monsters with killer instincts, like the giant shark showcased on the obverse of this coin.

In addition to the alluring colored design embellished by the proof finish, this coin contains 2 oz of 99.99% pure silver and legal tender status in Palau.

The Design

The obverse is predominantly blue with an enameled cover, lending depth to the image reminiscent of deep waters.

The image features a relaxed swimmer drifting along the water while a giant shark rises from the depth with its huge open mouth.

The inscription of the year of issuance is at the bottom rim.

The reverse side is integrally monochromatic silver. The Coat of Arms of Palau is centralized, along with the engraving of its name and the coin’s face value, in a sequence of human heads decorated with spiralized patterns. 

The inscription of the series name “PHOBIAS” overlaps the design above the national seal of Palau.

The proof finish applied to this coin creates a nice contrast between the mirror-like surfaces and the matte design elements.
