Demand was unprecedented and the coin sold out in two minutes on the US Mint's website resulting in long lines of collectors and dealers clamoring to obtain a coin at the US Mint's physical launch at the Baltimore Coin Show. Sources inside the US Mint have rumored that the US Mint only struck 7,000 coins instead of the already low mintage of 17,500 creating what may become one of the most elusive modern US Mint gold rarities!

Minted at West Point, this edition faithfully recreates Robert Scot's original design, enhanced with high-relief detailing. Made from 1 troy ounce of 99.99% pure gold, this coin commemorates a milestone in the nation’s numismatic heritage.

The Design

Replicating the original design, the obverse depicts Lady Liberty's right-profile effigy surrounded by 15 stars. They represent the fifteen states that had ratified the Constitution by 1794. It also features the “LIBERTY” inscription and includes an updated “2024” date.

The reverse showcases a laurel wreath surrounding an eagle with spread wings in the center, an early predecessor of the American heraldic eagle, along with the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”

The design was imprinted in high relief, so the artistic elements surpassed the coin’s edges, producing a 3-D effect. Because it is a proof coin, it exhibits mirror-like surfaces contrasting with frosted design elements.
