The obverse features a modern depiction of Lady Liberty wearing a laurel crown and carrying a torch and the American flag. The image is supplemented by the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “2015,” and the initials of artists Phebe Hemphill and Justin Kunz.

The reverse displays the Bald Eagle flying and gripping olive branches on its talons. The inscriptions on this side start with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, followed by the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” the coin’s information regarding weight, purity, metal content, and denomination, which read: “1 OZ .9999 FINE GOLD,” and “ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS.” It also features the “W” mint mark on the left and the initials of artist Paul Balan.

Because they are high relief, the design elements are imprinted with a 3-D effect, surpassing the coin’s edges. This contributes to creating a nice visual effect with more lively and noticeable design elements.
