2025 PCGS PR-70 First Day of Issue 1/2 oz 25th Anniversary Sacagawea Dollar 24k Proof Gold Coin
Sold out at the US Mint within hours of its release!
The US Mint pays tribute to Native American heritage and strength by releasing a commemorative edition of 24k gold coins.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Sacagawea Dollar, the US Mint prepared a 1/2 oz proof version of this remarkable $1 coin, which circulated in the US from 2000 to 2008, as a replacement for the Susan B. Anthony Dollar. Then it continued in 2009 as part of the Native American $1 Coin Program.
The commemorative Sacagawea Dollar strike is made from .9999 fine gold and features the “W” mint mark from the West Point Mint.
These coins, in particular, were purchased from the US Mint on the first day of their official release and submitted to PCGS for grading.
Today, SD Bullion offers 2025 1/2 oz 25th Anniversary Sacagawea Dollar 24k Proof Gold Coins housed in PCGS slabs and graded as PR-70 First Day of Issue samples.

The Design
On the obverse, Glenna Goodacre’s portrayal of Sacagaweis is accompanied by her infant son, Jean Baptiste, depicted on her back.
The inscriptions on this side refer to the words “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the issue year “2025,” framing the design.
The reverse depicts Thomas D. Rogers Sr.’s majestic, soaring eagle, returning with its wings outstretched in motion, surrounded by stars.
It is also engraved with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
A PCGS PR-70 “First Day of Issue” Coin
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) operates independently of sovereign mints. It evaluates and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, a grading system from 1 to 70.
According to PCGS, a “First Day of Issue” is a coin purchased from its original mint on the first day it is made publicly available and submitted for appraisal.
“PR” stands for “Proof Coin”, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 70 is the highest grade and indicates a coin with no visible flaws.
