The Design

The standard motif of the series is the Centenario of the Mexican Independence from the Span, conquered in 1821. 

The obverse showcases eleven versions of the Public Seal of Mexico. The current one is in the center, encircled by “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.” The common design element of all seals is the Eagle defeating the rattlesnake, symbolizing Mexican conquest from foreign dominance.

The reverse displays the Winged Victory, a 17-foot statue atop the monument dedicated to this landmark in Mexico City. The image is accompanied by the inscriptions “1 ONZA ORO PURO,” “2024,” and “LEY .999,” which stand for weight, metal content, issuance, and purity levels.

Because it is a proof coin, the background surfaces exhibit a mirror-like luster, contrasting with the frozen design mages imprinted.
