Those familiar with continental American history easily recognize the Mexican Mint (also known as La Casa de Moneda de México). The mint was founded in 1535, making it the Americas' oldest mint. The Mexican Mint thrived in part because of the region's easy availability of vast amounts of silver. The Libertad series debuted in 1982 and has remained popular ever since. The coin is available in gold and silver, with a limited mintage of each type each year. The coins' low mintage permits them to gain in value over time due to their low mintage.

The Design

Unlike the larger sizes of the Mexican Libertad Silver coin, the design of the reverse face is different on the 2021 1/10 oz Mexican Libertad Silver Coin. The reverse face features the Mexican National Coat of Arms. Included above the coat of arms is the words “Estados Unidos Mexicanos.” On the non-fractional pieces of the Libertads, the current coat of arms is encircled by the previous 10 coats of arms in Mexico. Due to the limited space available on this fractional piece, the other coats are eliminated.

 The obverse of this coin is identical to that of all previous Mexican Libertads in the series. The majestic winged Angel of Independence, a historical monument in Mexico City, is featured on this face.
