However, when their distress and appeals were met with indifference, they decided to take matters into their hands. They scooped water from the sea and sprayed it onto the land, making it rain -- knowing full-well that the Emperor would be displeased with their disobedience. The Emperor banished the four dragons under the mounts. However, not regretting their decision in the least, the dragons decided to turn themselves into rivers to continue helping the people, and these are the four great rivers in China today -- the Huanghe (Yellow Dragon), Heilongjiang (Black Dragon), the Changjiang (Long Dragon), and the Zhujiang (Pearl Dragon).
