2011 PCGS PR-69 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof Coin
In 2011, the US Mint celebrated the 25th anniversary of the American Eagles Program. This important landmark is certainly one of the main appeals of the 2011 mintage.
Proof Silver Eagles exhibit a unique mirror-like luster, thanks to the specially treated blanks and polished dies. They are also one-ounce coins made of 99.9% pure silver, with a face value of USD1, and are legal tender status.
Today, SD Bullion offers 2011 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof coins graded and certified by PCGS as PR-69.

- Contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver;
- Proof coin;
- Produced by the US Mint;
- Hold a USD 1 denomination and legal tender status;
- The obverse showcases the Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman;
- The reverse features the Heraldic Eagle by John Mercanti;

The Design
The obverse of Silver Eagles comes from the 1917 Half Dollar coin.
It features Lady Liberty walking towards the sun, folded in the American flag, and greeting the new immigrants with the oak and laurel branches she holds. The design includes the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of mintage complete the design.
The reverse was designed by John Mercanti, who portrayed the Heraldic Eagle beneath thirteen stars, representing the original Thirteen Colonies. The Eagle carries the American Great Seal on its chest, arrows and olive branches on its talons, and a banner with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on its beak.
The engravings “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR” inform face value, weight, metal content, and purity.
Because it is a proof coin, its surfaces exhibit a mirror-like luster, which contrasts with the design’s frosted image.
A PCGS PR-69 Coin
PCGS, which stands for Professional Coin Grading Service, is a renowned third-party service that assesses and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70.
According to the scale, PR stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 69 is the grade attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
