$20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin - Type II - BU - Random Year
The $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin stands as a timeless symbol of American craftsmanship and holds substantial numismatic significance.
First minted in 1850, these coins were issued by the U.S. Mint as standard $20 currency, each containing 0.9675 ounces of gold. They remained in circulation until 1907, when the $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle succeeded them.
Design modifications introduced slight variations, including changes to the reverse. Type 2 of these $20 Liberty coins, produced from mid-1866 to 1876, displays the added motto “In God We Trust.” but still lists the dollar amount as "TWENTY D.". This Liberty design also features an obverse design that is not exactly in the center unlike the Type III design.
Today, SD Bullion offers $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coins Type II in Brilliant Uncirculated Condition. The year is guaranteed to be within years 1866 through 1876, but the specific year and mint mark provided will be based on currently available inventory at the time of purchase.
