NGC/PCGS MS-63 $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin No Motto - Random Year
The introduction of the $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins in the US market happened in 1907, during President Roosevelt’s government.
The US Mint produced them as widespread circulation coins, bearing legal tender status, a denomination of $20, and weighing .9675 oz of gold.
Their first strikes differ from the others because they do not showcase the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” on the reverse design on the rising sun at the bottom rim, which was introduced only in mid-1908.
Today, you can purchase from SD Bullion $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins No Motto, sealed in either NGC or PCGS slabs and graded as MS-63 coins.

The Design
Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed the obverse, showcasing Lady Liberty walking forward as a symbol of the national march to the future. The torch she carries means enlightenment, and the olive branch, peace.
The word “LIBERTY” arches over the image while the sun's rays work as a backdrop. The Capitol Building is discreetly imprinted on the lower left, and the year of issuance is on the right.
The sun also appears as a background image in the reverse design, which features a flying Bald Eagle. The inscriptions on this side are on top and read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWENTY DOLLARS.”
An NGC or PCGS MS-63 Coin
Internationally recognized third-party services like The PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service and the NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company work independently from sovereign mints appraising coins.
They use the Sheldon Grading Scale as a parameter to classify coins according to their condition. The scale ranks coins from 1 to 70.
MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin produced in the format of a widespread circulation sample, which remained uncirculated.
Grade 63 indicates that the coin may present marks and minor visible hairlines, detracting scuff marks or defects throughout the design. But still maintain an attractive overall appearance.
