The Design

In the image, Lady Liberty walks forward carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing the nation's progress toward peace and enlightenment. The Capitol Building, the word “LIBERTY,” and the coin’s mintage year are included.

The reverse was designed by Miley Busiek. It depicts a female eagle cherishing her hatchling under her wing while the male perches on their nest. 

Engravings describing weight, metal content, and face value read “1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD—5 DOLLARS.” Additional engravings read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
