The Design

The obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty, initially designed to be the 1907 20-Dollar Double Eagle’s face. The Capitol Building is on the lower left and the coin’s mintage year is on the right. Six-pointed stars encircle the image.

One possible reverse side is the Family of Eagles design depicting a male bald eagle carrying an olive branch to a female eagle and an eaglet. Another possible design is the Eagle Portrait which has only its head displayed in a frontal close-up.
