The Design
The obverse shows Lady Liberty, with the American flag draped on her shoulder, striding toward the rising sun. She welcomes new inhabitants of the New World as she holds oak and laurel branches.
It is inscribed with the word "LIBERTY," the motto"IN GOD WE TRUST," and the minting year.
The reverse showcases a Bald Eagle standing on a rock with its wings poised for flight, clutching oak branches in its talons. It is engraved with the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR."
