1904 $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin - AU
The U.S. Mint struck the Liberty Double Eagle, a $20 gold coin, for circulation from 1850 to 1907. Each coin contains 0.9675 troy ounces of gold and features an iconic design by James B. Longacre.
During the economic crisis of the 1930s, pre-1933 gold coins, including the $20 Liberty Double Eagle, were widely confiscated, melted down, or hoarded for their gold value. As a result, these coins became significantly scarcer and are now highly prized by collectors.
