The US Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin represents economic strength and a rich historical legacy. 

Issued as the official $20 coin, it was in circulation from 1849 to 1907 and contains 0.9675 Troy oz of gold, featuring a design by James B. Longacre. 

As the fourth Chief Engraver of the US Mint, Longacre crafted the profile of Lady Liberty and the impressive eagle on the coin.

The Design

The obverse features Lady Liberty wearing a tiara inscribed "LIBERTY." It is encircled by thirteen six-pointed stars symbolizing the original Thirteen Colonies. The year of mintage, engraved in small letters, is beneath Liberty’s effigy at the bottom rim.

On the reverse, the Heraldic Eagle was depicted with spread wings, clutching arrows in its talons, the national shield on its chest, and the banner "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak. 

The artistry displays the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the coin's face value of "TWENTY DOLLARS."
