CAC MS-62 $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin - Random Year
The $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin served as the official 20-dollar circulating coin in the United States from 1850 to 1907.
Minted by the U.S. Mint, these coins feature .9675 ounces of gold, hold legal tender status with a face value of $20, and are widely recognized for James B. Longacre's Liberty Head design.
However, the economic downturn of the 1930s greatly impacted these coins. Like many Pre-1933 Gold Coins, many $20 Liberty Double Eagles were melted down or hoarded due to their gold value.
At SD Bullion, you can acquire surviving $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coins of assorted mint years, certified by CAC as MS-62 coins.

The Design
This coin is renowned as the Liberty Head Coin because of James B. Longacre’s design showcasing Lady Liberty’s left-profile close-up.
Her effigy is enhanced by a tiara engraved with “LIBERTY,” and thirteen five-pointed stars that refer to the Thirteen Original Colonies encircle the whole image. The year of mintage is at the bottom rim.
On the reverse side, the design starts with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” inscribed on top. The Heraldic Eagle has the national shield on its chest, spread wings, arrows in its talons, and the banner “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak.
Slightly different design elements vary on the reverse design. For example, the presence or absence of the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” above the Eagle and the coin’s denomination engraved at the bottom, in some written “TWENTY DOLLARS,” while in others, “TWENTY D.”
A CAC MS-62 Coin
Like similar third-party grading companies, CAC—Certified Acceptance Corporation uses the Sheldon Scale to appraise numismatic items, ranking coins from 1 to 70.
An MS coin indicates Mint State, a coin issued as a business circulation one. Grade 62 indicates that the coin may present marks and hairlines in focal areas but with an acceptable overall appearance.
