2026-W NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue 1 oz American Silver Eagle Enhanced Uncirculated Coin - Paul Hollis Black Core
The US Mint marks two significant milestones in 2026—the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the 40th anniversary of the American Eagle Program—with specially issued American Silver Eagles.
Among these releases is the American Silver Eagle Enhanced Uncirculated coin, distinguished by the sharp contrast between its polished surfaces and frosted design elements.
Struck at the West Point Mint, these coins carry the “W” mint mark, and a special Liberty Bell privy mark featuring the number “250” adds a commemorative touch in honor of the nation’s Semiquincentennial.
In addition, they were all purchased on the first day of their official release and submitted to NGC appraisal, sealed in NGC’s Black Core with a Paul Hollis Label.
As the 41st Director of the United States Mint, Paul Hollis brings a rare collector-driven perspective to the role. With decades of numismatic experience, he is well-positioned to shape more collector-focused coin programs, enhance design and storytelling, and strengthen the Mint’s engagement with the hobby community.
Today, SD Bullion offers the 2026-W 1 oz American Silver Eagle Enhanced Uncirculated Coin graded as MS-70 First Day of Issue and housed in NGC Black Core with a Paul Hollis Label.

The Design
The obverse portrays Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design, first used on the 1917 Half Dollar coin.
In the image, Lady Liberty walks with the American flag draped on her shoulder and oak branches on her left arm. With her right arm stretched out, she welcomes those seeking a home on American soil. It is engraved with the word “LIBERTY” on top, “IN GOD WE TRUST” aside, and the year of mintage at the bottom.
The Liberty Bell, marked with the number “250,” is on the right.
The reverse depicts a bald eagle perched on a branch, representing America’s enduring spirit. Inscriptions describing weight, metal content, and purity read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER.”
The West Point mint mark is on the reverse side.
The design is encircled by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
Enhanced Finish
The Enhanced Uncirculated version, though not as reflective as a proof coin, has a brighter look than regular bullion coins and more visible design elements. They undergo a special polishing process called “burnishing,” which removes unwanted oxides formed during the annealing and rimming processes.
