2025-W PCGS PR-70 First Day of Issue 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof Coin - John Dannreuther Label
The American Silver Eagle is one of the world’s best-selling silver coins. Introduced by the US Mint in 1986 as part of the American Eagle Program, it has become a cornerstone of silver collections.
Each coin is crafted with 1 Troy oz of 99.9% pure silver, carries legal tender status, and showcases an iconic obverse design: Adolph A. Weinman’s timeless “Walking Liberty.” Since 2021, this has been paired with Emily Damstra’s striking reverse depiction of a Bald Eagle, enhancing its appeal.
These coins, in particular, are US Silver Eagles from the 2025 edition. They were purchased from the US Mint on the first day of their public release and sealed by PCGS with the John Dannreuther Label.
John Dannreuther is a co-founder of PCGS and is presented in the exclusive Founders Mark of Distinction holder. A leading coin expert, Dannreuther has authored numerous works on U.S. coins, focusing on rarities and die varieties. His notable contributions include the award-winning "The Official Guide to Coin Grading and Counterfeit Detection" and a groundbreaking article in the ANA Journal.
Today, SD Bullion proudly offers 2025-W 1 oz American Silver Eagles graded by PCGS as PR-70 First Day of Issue coins and sealed with John Dannreuther Label.

The Design
The obverse showcases the iconic Walking Liberty design, embodying the spirit of a personified nation. Lady Liberty is portrayed with the American flag draped over her shoulder, holding oak branches in her arm as she strides toward the sunrise.
Her outstretched arm symbolizes hope, welcome, and new beginnings. The design also contains the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUS,” the “W” mint mark from the West Point branch, and the year of mintage.
The reverse displays the Bald Eagle perched on a branch. The coin also bears additional inscriptions detailing its specifications: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER.”
A PCGS PR-70 “First Day of Issue” Coin
PCGS—Professional Coin Grading Service appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70.
PCGS considers “First Day of Issue,” a coin purchased from its original mint on the first day of its official release and submitted to PCGS appraisal.
PR stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes that exhibits mirror-like surfaces contrasting with frosted design elements. 70 is the highest grade on the scale attributed to flawless coins.
