The Design

The reverse depicts Cuauhtémoc, a jaguar and eagle warrior clad in majestic animal skins and adorned with striking helmets. The Cuauhtémoc’s helmet and skin are gilded, making a rich contrast with the coin’s brilliant silver.

The obverse displays Templo Mayor, a central sanctuary of the Aztecs, where rituals were held, surrounded by the Aztec solar calendar. The effigy of King Charles III’s effigy lies at the bottom, encircled by the engravings “20 DOLLARS,” “CHARLES III,” “2025,” and “COOK ISLANDS.”
