The Peace Dollar was first released in 1921 to celebrate the end of World War I with a special-themed design that elevates hope and renewal. 

They served as the official circulating dollar coin in the US from 1921 to 1928 and again from 1934 to 1935. In 2021, the US Mint struck a special edition to celebrate the centennial of its first issuance, but its popularity made it a regular strike.

The reverse depicts a peaceful bald eagle resting on a rock, holding an olive branch in its talon. It also displays the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “PEACE.” The “S” mint mark is near the coin’s face value.

Because it is a proof coin, the blank surfaces exhibit a mirror-like luster, contrasting with the intricate design details imprinted on a matte finish.
