2024 PCGS MS-70 First Day of Issue 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coin
American Gold Eagles are the official gold coin in the US and the debut gold bullion coin in the American Eagle Program, introduced in 1986.
The series premiered with a 1 Troy oz sample, but it soon added fractional options, broadening the collection, like the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle.
The fourth-ounce coin has a USD 10 face value and legal tender status, and the US government fully backs it. Its alloy includes 3% silver and 5.33% copper for added durability. Despite the alloy, it contains a full 1/4 oz of pure gold.
SD Bullion offers 2024 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins purchased from the US Mint on the first production day and certified by PCGS as MS-70 samples.

The Design
The obverse displays Augustus Saint-Gaudens’s artistry for the $20 Double Eagle obverse design reproduced in Gold Eagles. Lady Liberty walking forward is a sign of progress. The torch and olive branch she carries represent enlightenment and peace.
It is engraved with the word “LIBERTY,” stars representing national states, the year of issuance, and the US Capitol Building.
The reverse was designed by Jennie Norris as part of the 35th anniversary revamp of the Gold Eagles. It consists of a Bald Eagle portrayed in a left-profile close-up with a hooked beak and a staring gaze.
The engravings “10 DOLLARS” and “1/4 OZ FINE GOLD” describe the coin’s denomination, weight, and metal content. They are complemented with the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
A PCGS MS-70 “First Day of Issue” coin
PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service appraises and grades coins independently from sovereign mints. It uses the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70.
According to PCGS, a “First Day of Issue” coin is one that was purchased on the very first day the coin was publicly available for purchase.
MS or Mint State refers to an uncirculated coin in the same format as a business circulation sample. Grade 70 is attributed to flawless coins.
