In 2012, the United States Mint struck just 675,000 one ounce gold eagles. To give you context, the U.S. Mint struck 1,115,500 one ounce gold eagles in 2021. This product allows you to purchase a back-dated gold eagle for the Lowest Price Period. 

The obverse face features the famed rendition of Lady Liberty, created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens; the reverses display a family of bald eagles in a nest, looking eagerly upon an adult eagle coming in to perch. This design is the original design featured on all gold eagles from 1986-2021. Halfway through 2021, the design on the American Eagle reverse face was switched for the first time in 35 years.

Each coin contains one troy ounce of 22 karat gold, or 91.67% gold. The face value of $50 is backed by the United States government and you can purchase these eagles individually or as a full tube of 20 coins.
