The Design

The reverse design gives St. Gaudens' Lady Liberty from the vintage Double Eagle gold pieces a contemporary imagery. It depicts Lady Liberty holding a torch and the American flag, with the sun rays in the background.

It also features the words “LIBERTY” and “2024.”

The reverse features John Mercanti’s design of the Flying Eagle over water. The Coat of Arms of Samoa is on the bottom rim, accompanied by the engravings “.9999 FINE GOLD”, “SAMOA 2024,” and “50 DOLLARS,” referring to the coin’s purity, metal content, issuance, and face value.

An NGC PF-70 Coin 

NGC, which stands for Numismatic Guaranty Company, operates independently of sovereign mints and evaluates and grades coins. They use the Sheldon Scale, a grading system from 1 to 70.

PF stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes. Because it is a reverse-proof coin, the background surfaces are matte, contrasting with the brilliant images engraved on it. 70 is the highest grade and indicates a coin with no visible flaws.
