The Design

The obverse showcases the effigy of King Charles III, as designed by Martin Jennings. His Majesty’s left-profile bust is encircled by “CHARLES III,” the initials “D.G.REX.F.D,” which in Latin means “By the grace of God, King,” and “2 POUNDS,” for face value.

The reverse design houses a combination of Britannia and Liberty. Both are depicted through a right-profile closeup, with heads in opposing orientations.

Britannia, designed by Royal Mint Chief Engraver Gordon Summers, wears a Corinthian helmet and carries a trident. Lady Liberty, created by the US Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna, carries a torch and has free-flowing hair adorned with stars.

The inscription “BRITANNIA AND LIBERTY” arches over the image, and the coin’s information regarding issuance, weight, fineness, and metal content is at the bottom rim and read: “2024,” “1 OZ 999 FINE SILVER.”
