The Design

The Year of the Rabbit coin showcases a leaping rabbit in its natural habitat on the reverse side. Along with the image, the inscriptions read “RABBIT 2023”. Chinese symbols that correspond to the animals lie aside, and the engraved “P” represents the Perth Mint mintmark.

The obverse features a right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. Around the effigy, it reads “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” “2 oz 9999 Au,” and “200 DOLLARS” for the Queen’s name, country of mintage, the coin’s weight, purity, metal content, and denomination.

The Year of the Rabbit

According to Chinese tradition, the Zodiac Signs correspond to 12 animals that succeed each year. Those born at a particular animal year would receive the same personality traits as that animal. So those born in 2023, or the previous 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, and 2011, tend to be kind, creative, and smart as a rabbit.
