Engravings are present with the words “5 ONZAS PLATA PURA”, “LEY .999”, which translating to English indicates weight, metal content and purity, and the mint year.

The reverse carries the Mexican Coat of Arms in a central disposition and other ten variations of this image surrounding the central one, in a circular pattern. The only inscription we find on this side of the coin is “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS”, on the upper rim.
