The Half Ounce Gold Eagle has been minted every year since 1986, along with the 1 ounce, ¼ ounce, and 1/10 gold eagles and the 1 ounce Silver Eagle. The obverse of these Gold Eagles features Lady Liberty confidently striding forward with a torch in her left hand and an olive branch in her right. The reverse of these gold coins features a family of bald eagles in the center of the design. The father is landing in the nest with an olive branch clutched in his talons while the mother holds two eaglets in her wings. The nest is mostly comprised of olive branches, representing peace. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” is minted at the top of the coin, with “1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD~25 DOLLARS” minted at the very bottom. “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is minted to the left of the nest, & “IN GOD WE TRUST” is minted to the right of the nest.
