2019 PCGS MS-69 DMPL First Strikes 5 oz America The Beautiful San Antonio Missions Silver Coin

The US Mint introduced the America The Beautiful Quarter Program to celebrate the nation’s natural landmarks and historical heritage.

This initiative began in 2010 with the first quarter-dollar coins struck. Over the years, it produced 56 captivating silver coins, each showcasing the beauty and significance of various sites across the United States.

The San Antonio Missions Silver Coin was the fourth strike of the 2019 edition and the 49th overall in the series.

The San Antonio Missions, established in the 1700s, were a significant cluster of Spanish missions in North America that laid the groundwork for the City of San Antonio, TX. They featured aqueducts and irrigation canals (acequias) for farming and ranching, and their skills in toolmaking, carpentry, weaving, spinning, and masonry supported the community's self-sufficiency.

SD Bullion offers 2019 5 oz America The Beautiful San Antonio Missions Silver Coins, purchased from the US Mint within 30 days of their official release. They are sealed in PCGS slabs certified as MS-69 coins.

It also contains the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”

The reverse incorporates elements from the Spanish Colonial Real coin. The wheat represents agriculture, arches and a bell symbolize community, a lion signifies Spanish cultural heritage, and the San Antonio River illustrates irrigation practices and vital resources for life.

Further inscriptions read “SAN ANTONIO MISSIONS,” “TEXAS,” “2019,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

A PCGS MS-69 DMPL “First Strikes” Coin

PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service is internationally recognized for appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70 based on their condition.

For PCGS, “First Strikes” refer to coins purchased from the original mint within the first 30 days of their official release and taken to its appraisal.

MS stands for Mint State. Mint State coins are shaped as business coins that have never circulated. 69 is the grade attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.

According to PCGS, DMPL stands for Deep Mirror Proof-Like and refers to coins struck for circulation but with unusual mirror-like fields and frosted design details that are very similar to Proof coins.
