The Design

The obverse depicts Lady Liberty moving forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch. The word "LIBERTY," the Capitol Building, and the coin’s year of issue accompany the artistry.

The reverse illustration displays a female eagle sheltering her hatchling under her wing while the male eagle stands guard over their nest. 

The inscriptions on this side read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The weight, metal content, and face value are inscribed "1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD—10 DOLLARS."
