The reverse features a female eagle protecting its hatchling under her wing while the male eagle perches on their nest.

The weight, metal content, and face value information read "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD—5 DOLLARS." Further engravings read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
