2001 1/10 oz American Eagle Gold Coins
Combining precious gold with an iconic design, US Gold Eagles stands out as one of the best-sold gold bullion coins worldwide.
The Gold Eagle premiere dates back to 1986 when the American Eagle Program was introduced. In addition to the 1 oz Gold Eagle, the debuting coin, the series comprises 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins.
Struck from 22-karat gold (.9167 fineness), the coin’s alloy includes 3% silver and 5,33% copper for added durability. Despite the alloy, it contains a full 1/10 oz of pure gold.

The Design
Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed the obverse. It showcases Lady Liberty walking forward to the future.
The word “LIBERTY” arches over her as she carries a torch and an olive branch, showing light and peace to the outcome. The year of mintage appears on her right side, and the US Capitol Building on her lower left.
Miley Busiek illustrated a family of Bald Eagles on the reverse, with a female eagle protecting its hatchling under her wing while the male eagle perches on their nest.
Inscriptions read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," and details about the coin's weight, metal content, and face value, which reads "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD—5 DOLLARS."
