The Design

The motif is based on the history of Mexican independence, so the designed elements relate to freedom and national pride.

The obverse showcases the current and the previous ten Coats of Arms throughout Mexican history. In all of them, the national Eagle defeats the rattlesnake, a symbol used for foreign presence. In a central position, the current one is surrounded by “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.”

The reverse depicts the Angel of Victory. In a high monument in Mexico City, the nation received a feminine personification with open, free wings. 

The engravings “2 ONZAS PLATA PURA 2024 LEY .999” stands for weight, metal content, year of issuance, and purity. The “M” on the right is the Mexican Mint mintmark.
