1999 1/10 oz American Eagle Gold Coins
Introduced in the bullion market through the Liberty Coin Act 1985, the 1 oz US Gold Eagle premiered the American Eagle Series. However, the US Mint boosted the series by joining fractional sizes of 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz to the collection in the same year.
Struck from 22-karat gold (.9167 fineness), the coin’s alloy includes 3% silver and 5,33% copper for added durability. Despite the alloy, it contains a full 1/10 oz of pure gold.

The Design
The obverse, created by Saint Gaudens, showcases Lady Liberty's front-face portrait, walking forward to the future with the sun rays in the background and the stars representing the national states around the image.
The word “LIBERTY” arches over her as she carries a torch and an olive branch, showing light and peace to the outcome. The year of mintage appears on her right side, and the US Capitol Building on her lower left.
Miley Busiek designed a family of Bald Eagles on the reverse, depicting a female eagle protecting its hatchling under her wing while the male eagle perches on their nest.
It includes the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," and details about the coin's weight, metal content, and face value, which reads "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD—5 DOLLARS."
