1998 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin
The US Gold Eagle is the official gold bullion coin in the US. Struck from 22-carat gold (.9167 fineness), its alloy includes 3% silver and 5.33% copper for added durability.
The American Eagle Series debuted with a one-ounce gold coin in 1986, but the US Mint boosted the collection by including Gold Eagles of varied size options and finishes. The 1/2 oz Gold Eagle is the heaviest fractional gold coin of the series.
Today, SD Bullion offers 1998 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins.

The Design
The obverse of the Gold Eagle coins features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ 1907 design for the 20-dollar Double Eagle, depicting Lady Liberty striding forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.
This symbolizes the nation's journey toward progress, peace, and enlightenment. "LIBERTY" is inscribed along the upper rim, with the Capitol Building on the lower left and the mint year on the right.
On the reverse, Miley Busiek’s design portrays a family of Bald Eagles, with the female protecting her hatchling under her wing while the male watches over their nest.
The design is accompanied by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST," as well as details on the coin’s weight, metal content and face value, which reads "1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD—25 DOLLARS."
