1988 1 oz Gold Chinese Panda Coin

Only the 7th release in the Chinese Gold Panda Coin series, these 1988 1 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coins are one of the first releases under this series.

As these coins are one of the few official gold bullion coins that feature annually changing designs, collectors and investors anxiously await each year’s release, wishing to purchase the newest designs before they run out of stock.

Each of these gold coins is struck using 1 troy ounce of pure 0.999 gold. Moreover, the People’s Bank of China guarantees their 100-Yuan face value. Although this face value is nominal, the official backing of a sovereign government enhances investor confidence significantly.

A depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing graces the obverse of these coins. Additionally, the year of issue ‘1988’ is imprinted below this elegant image.

On the other hand, the reverse of this gold coin features 1988’s unique panda design. A panda is seen seated in a bamboo grove – grabbing one of the stems and pulling it towards itself.
