1927 NGC MS-66 $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin

The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is one of the world's most sought-after Pre-1933 gold coins. Designed by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, it was minted in the United States from 1907 to 1933 as the official twenty-dollar gold coin. 

The coin contains .9675 troy oz of gold and has immense intrinsic value. Its striking patriotic design is also of significant historical and numismatic importance. Later, it was reused for the American Gold Eagle series, further cementing its legacy.

On the reverse, the Bald Eagle flies above the sun, with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWENTY DOLLARS.” 

An NGC MS-66 Coin

NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company is an independent third-party service that uses the Sheldon Grading Scale to appraise and grade coins according to their condition. The scale ranks coins from 1 to 70.

MS stands for mint state. It refers to a coin struck in the same format as a business circulation coin that remained uncirculated. Grade 66 indicates the coin may have contact marks and signs of wear and tear, but it is above average in quality of strike and preserved original mint luster.
