The $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin, minted by the U.S. Mint from 1907 to 1933, is one of the most stunning gold coins to circulate in the U.S. 

It was designed by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, showcasing Lady Liberty and a majestic bald eagle in flight. 

It contained 0.9675 Troy ounces of gold and functioned as the official $20 legal tender during its era. These specific coins were produced at the San Francisco Mint and bear the “S” mint mark.

The Design

The obverse displays Lady Liberty walking forward carrying a torch and an olive branch, symbols of development, enlightenment, and peace.

The reverse features the Bald Eagle flying above the sun and the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWENTY DOLLARS.”
