1907 PCGS MS-63 $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coin - Rough Rider Hoard

Liberty Eagle Gold Coins circulated in the US as the official $10 coin from 1838 to 1907. They contained .4837 oz of actual gold content and displayed the design of Christian Gobrecht, the third Chief Engraver of the US Mint.

This coin features a special label with the portrait of President Teddy Roosevelt in his Rough Rider uniform. During his presidency, Roosevelt pushed for a redesign of American coinage. 1907 was the last issue of the Liberty Head design before it was replaced for the Saint-Gaudens' Indian Head depiction.

The Design

On the obverse, Lady Liberty is portrayed with a coronet inscribed "LIBERTY." Her bust is surrounded by thirteen stars, symbolizing the original thirteen colonies and the year of mintage.

The reverse showcases the Heraldic Eagle, which bears the national shield on its chest, arrows and oak branches in its talons, and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on a banner above.

Encircling the eagle are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TEN D.," indicating the coin's face value.
