1901 PCGS MS-64+ $10 Liberty Head Gold Eagle Coin

The $10 Liberty Head Gold Eagle Coin holds significant numismatic value.

The US Mint first struck them in 1838 with a high gold content corresponding to .4838 oz of gold, intended for regular circulation as legal tender with a ten-dollar denomination.

The production continued until 1907 when it was succeeded by the $10 Indian Head Gold Eagle Coin.

Many $10 Liberty Head Gold Eagle coins were lost during the economic turmoil of the 1930s, similar to other Pre-1933 Gold Coins. Due to rising gold prices, these coins were hoarded and melted, enhancing their historical and numismatic value.

Today, SD Bullion offers the 1901 PCGS MS-64+ $10 Liberty Head Gold Eagle Coin, sealed in a PCGS slab and graded as MS-64+.

  • Evaluated, graded, and encapsulated as an MS-64+ coin by the PCGS

The Design

On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted in profile with a coronet inscribed “LIBERTY,” surrounded by thirteen stars symbolizing the original colonies. The year of mintage is located at the bottom rim.

The reverse features a Heraldic Eagle with spread wings, holding arrows and an olive branch, with a national shield on its chest. The banner "IN GOD WE TRUST" is draped across its beak, and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” arches around the eagle, with the face value "TEN D." indicated below.

A PCGS MS-64+ Coin

The PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service is a leading independent third-party coin grading company, assessing coins based on the Sheldon Scale from 1 to 70.

MS stands for Mint State, indicating an uncirculated coin. A grade of 64+ signifies superior quality within the MS-64 range, with minimal marks or hairlines.

The coins in this listing have been graded MS-64+ by PCGS and come in a protective plastic slab. These slabs may exhibit minor wear, which does not affect the coin's grade or value.
