The US Mint crafted Liberty Quarter Eagles between 1840 and 190 to circulate as the official $2.50 to meet the internal demand.

These coins contain .12094 oz of gold and are imprinted with Christian Gobrecht's remarkable Liberty design. The design remained unchanged for 67 years, making it the longest-lasting design in American coinage history.

The reverse features the Heraldic Eagle with outstretched wings, the national shield on its chest, arrows, and an olive branch on its talons.

The inscriptions are limited to the nation’s name and the coin’s face value.
