Re-imagining one of the most famous American coin designs to ever feature on American Coinage, the Osborne Mint has released the 1 oz Walking Liberty Copper Round. The obverse imagery is based on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar Coin that was in circulation from 1916-1947.

Osborne Mint is the oldest private mint in America, tracing its origin back to 1835. The Cincinnati-based company that would go on to become Osborne Coinage started producing gold and brass early on, only adding modern aluminum to its repertoire in 1892.

Each of these Osborne Mint Walking Liberty Rounds contains 1 AVDP oz of 0.999 pure copper. Although the original Walking Liberty Half Dollar was struck using silver, the copper finish provides a subtle variation over the original – retaining the imaginative elegance of the design.

The obverses of these copper rounds highlight Adolph A. Weinman’s masterpiece, which is dubbed the ‘Walking Liberty.’ In fact, this design was so successful that the Silver Half Dollar Coins of that time were named after it. The unique glint of copper offers a new perspective to Weinman’s rendition of Lady Liberty striding toward the rising sun.

Although the obverses display an image from the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, the reverses showcase the familiar winged shield design that the precious metals market has come to associate with quality and reliability – with Osborne Mint.

These copper rounds will make excellent purchases for investors who want to diversify their precious metals portfolios. Moreover, their historically significant artwork presented on pure copper make them valuable additions to precious metals coins and rounds collections as well.
