The Nativity Scene with the famous manger is a very common representation of Jesus Christ's birth. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Israel around 4 B.C. oIt is said Mary was forced to give birth to Jesus in a manger after she was turned away from the local inn. The nativity stories told by Matthew and Luke vary, but the key points of the narrative are agreed upon. They accept that Jesus was born to Mary and that Joseph, Mary's husband, was present at his birth, but the birth of Jesus was the result of divine intervention. Matthew's Gospel states that Joseph wanted to divorce Mary, but an angel appeared to him in a dream and told Joseph to be the child's father and called him Jesus, for he was going to absolve the world of its sins.
The 1 oz Manger Copper Round is 1 troy ounce of .999 fine copper and is made in the United States by the private Osborne Mint.
The obverse of the copper round features baby Jesus with mother Mary and Joseph as well as the star of Bethlehem shining overhead. Baby Jesus is pictured in the famed manger that he is depicted in very often. The three wise men are also depicted on this side. The words "MERRY CHRISTMAS" & "AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR" at the top and bottom respectively.
The reverse of these copper rounds is beautifully detailed. It features a wonderfully crafted snowflake in the middle of the round. Smaller snowflakes are minted in the background of the with the words “.999 FINE COPPER” at the very top.
