PMG-70 Limited Early Release Gold Aurum 24K Arizona 3 Goldback Note
Arizona is the eighth American state to adopt Goldback Notes as a voluntary currency embedded with actual gold. Although not federally recognized as legal tender, selected vendors accept them at their assigned monetary value.
Since the Utah Goldback’s debut in 2019, the series has expanded to include Nevada, New Hampshire, Wyoming, South Dakota, Florida, Oklahoma, and now, Arizona.
The 3 Goldback Note, first released with the Oklahoma Series, is made of 24 K gold. This combination of artistry and craftsmanship transforms the Arizona note into a golden narrative of history and identity. In addition, it is graded as a limited early release by PMG.
Today, SD Bullion offers the Arizona 3 Goldback Note, which contains 3/1000 Troy oz of 24K gold and is graded as a PMG-70 Limited Early Release note.

The Design
It is standard for all Goldback Notes designs to showcase a feminine figure symbolizing a particular virtue.
The Arizona 3 Goldback captures the spirit and resilience of the desert frontier. At its center, “Assecurá,” which translates to “Ensure,” stands confidently in refined attire, representing self-reliance and strength amidst the trials of early Arizona.
The intricate background weaves together architectural and cultural elements that honor the state’s rich heritage, while the vibrant orange border evokes Arizona’s iconic sunsets and copper legacy.
The first inscription refers to the PMG’s grade, which reads “LIMITED EARLY RELEASE.” The “3” monetary denomination is engraved beside “ARIZONA GOLDBACKS.” The note’s weight and metal content are at the bottom.
The note displays design elements on the obverse, leaving the reverse blank and mirroring only those on the obverse.
Goldback Notes
A Goldback, also known as a foil note, is a voluntary regional currency used for trade and payment in select areas of the United States. These beautifully crafted notes are currently issued in Utah, Nevada, New Hampshire, Wyoming, South Dakota, Florida, Oklahoma, and Arizona.
While not considered legal tender, Goldbacks hold intrinsic value as bullion, thanks to the layer of 24-karat gold carefully embedded within a durable polymer film.
Resembling traditional paper money in shape, each note’s denomination, ranging from 1/2 to 100, corresponds directly to the precise amount of gold it contains, from 1/1000th troy ounce up to 1/10th troy ounce.
A PMG-70 Limited Early Release Goldback Note
Paper Money Guaranty (PMG) is a trusted third-party service that grades the condition of paper currency using a standardized numerical scale.
A perfect grade of 70 represents a note that is flawlessly preserved with no signs of wear.
The “Limited Early Release” designation indicates that this particular Goldback was part of an exclusive initial issue, making it a collectible version distinct from standard circulating Goldbacks.
