PCGS PR-70 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Proof Coin - Random Year
Proof Gold Eagles are one of the gold coins produced by the US Mint to broaden the Gold Eagle Collection, introduced in the bullion market in 1986.
Gold Eagles are made of 22k gold, hold legal tender status, and showcase a standard patriotic design by introducing a 22k gold bullion coin. Proof Gold Eagles only differ from the bullion version because of their mirror-like luster.
You can purchase 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Proof Coins sealed by the PCGS and certified as perfect PR-70 samples at SD Bullion. They may be of several mint years, randomly taken from our stocks.

The Obverse Design
The obverse of Gold Eagles stamp Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ design used on the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin from 1907 to 1933.
In the image, she is marching forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch. The march symbolizes the nation's evolution to progress, peace, and enlightenment. The word “LIBERTY” is engraved on the upper rim. The Capitol Building is on the lower left, and the coin’s mintage year is on the right.
Reverse Design Type 1
Type 1 refers to Miley Busiek's original reverse design. It features a family of Bald Eagles, with a female eagle cherishing its hatchling under her wing while the male perches on their nest.
The engravings “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the coin’s description of weight, metal content, and face value reading “1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD—5 DOLLARS” complete the image.
Reverse Design Type 2
Type 2 corresponds to the design update of 2021, which celebrates the 35th anniversary of the American Eagles Program. Jennie Norris portrayed the majestic bald eagle in a close-up depiction with a deep gaze, highlighted hooked beak, and the same inscriptions of the original design.
The inscriptions on this side repeat the original ones.
A PCGS PR-70 coin
PCGS - Professional Coin Grading Service works apart from sovereign mints, appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70 depending on their condition.
PR stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 70 is the highest grade and indicates a coin with no visible flaws.
