NGC MS-70 2024 5 oz Patton Silver Coin - Commander Series
The Scottsdale Mint pays tribute to some of the most iconic leaders in history by releasing a new coin collection in limited editions.
The first strike of the Commander Series presented Napoleon Bonaparte, and the second edition introduces General George S. Patton Jr through gold and silver coins.
General George Smith Patton Junior was an important military figure in the US Army. His deeds are especially remembered during World War II. In addition, his advanced techniques in fencing granted him a prestigious chair as the Army Chief of Staff and a Cavalry Saber named after him, the Patton Saber.
The Scottsdale Mint Commander's Series stands as a resolute tribute to the indomitable spirit of history's most exceptional military leaders—visionaries who forged legacies in the crucible of warfare, leading their troops to resounding victories that would echo through the ages. In a grand odyssey spanning an initial four-year period, this series unveils a magnificent trilogy of coins each year, unleashing an initial twelve extraordinary tributes to these legendary commanders, men who earned the respect of the nations and the fear of their enemies.
Each coin in this esteemed series undergoes an intricate open striking process, resulting in a one-of-a-kind ruptured edge that symbolizes the dramatic and tumultuous nature of the battles these leaders navigated. These masterpieces are struck onto colossal 65mm coin blanks, each boasting an impressive 5 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver. Exclusive to SD Bullion, these coins feature a limited mintage of only 4,999. Such magnificence is unparalleled in the realm of bullion, setting these coins apart as rare and remarkable treasures that merge history, artistry, and investment into one extraordinary collection.

The obverse design displays General Patton in a left-profile bust, wearing his M1 Helmet. “PATTON” is engraved on top, while “2024” lies beneath his depiction.
As a proof-like coin, its blank background exhibits a brilliant luster, contrasting with the overlapping matte design imprints.
The Sheldon Grading Scale
The Sheldon Grading Scale establishes an international standard to evaluate and classify coins according to their condition and authenticity. The rank ranges from 1 to 70, meaning the higher the number the coin gets, the closer to perfection it is.
Third-party services, like the NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company, work independently of sovereign mints and use the scale to provide coins a particular grade.
MS stands for Mint State, referring to coins made as popular business coins that remained uncirculated.
And 70, the highest grade on the scale, is attributed to an almost-perfect coin, which does not show visible flaws.
