NGC MS-69 Brown Label 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin Set (1986-2005)
The American Silver Eagle is the debuting coin of the American Eagles Program and the US’ official silver coin.
From 1986 to 2005, the US Mint struck 20 editions of American Silver Eagle coins, weighing 1 Troy oz of 99.9% fine silver, and designs signed by Adolph A. Weinman and John Mercanti.
Right now, SD Bullion offers the complete set of the first 20 mint years of the American Silver Eagles, certified as MS-69 coins, sealed in NGC slabs with its Brown Label.

- Each coin weighs 1 oz of .999 fine silver, which accounts for 20 Troy oz of silver;
- Produced by the US Mint;
- Each coin holds USD 1 and legal tender status;
- The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s Lady Liberty;
- The reverse showcases Jonh Mercanti’s Heraldic Eagle;
- Individually packed in the NGC Brown Label slabs.
The Design
The obverse design reproduces the 1917 Half-Dollar Coin created by Adolph A. Weinman. It showcases Lady Liberty wrapped in the American flag as she walks toward the sun's rays, hence the moniker “The Walking Liberty.”
In the image, Lady Liberty carries oak and laurel branches in one hand and stretches the other in a warm welcome. It also contains the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of mintage.
Chief Engraver John Mercanti’s creation features a Heraldic Eagle with the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches on its talons, and a banner with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” on its beak.
The Thirteen pointed stars in a triangular format over the Heraldic Eagle represent the original colonies. The country’s name arches over the image, while the coin’s face value, weight, metal content, and purity data are on the bottom. They read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
An NGC Brown Label MS-69 Coin
NGC stands for Numismatic Guaranty Company, and it is a third-party service that works independently of sovereign mints to appraise coins and grade them based on the Sheldon Grading Scale.
Brown Label is NGC's standard seal. MS stands for Mint State, referring to a coin made in the same format as a business circulation sample. Grade 69 is attributed to a coin whose original luster is preserved despite almost invisible minor contact marks or flaws.
