The Utah Goldback Note belongs to the Aurum Mint’s Goldback Series. It was first introduced in 2019 under the Utah Legal Tender Act.

Since then, the series has grown to include several other American states with alluring designs. Every Goldback is crafted from 24-karat gold and functions as a voluntary medium of exchange, accepted by participating merchants in select U.S. states. The Design

It is standard for all Goldback Notes designs to showcase a feminine figure symbolizing a particular virtue. 

The design portrays Prudentia as a Ute woman dressed in traditional deerskin clothing, with details inspired by historical references to Ute craftsmanship. She is seated among Utah’s distinctive red-rock formations near Delicate Arch, reflecting the enduring connection between the Ute people and the land that has long been their homeland.

A mountain lion accompanies Prudentia, symbolizing courage, awareness, and quiet strength, while a bristlecone pine stands behind her, representing endurance. A hidden wolf appears beneath the moon in the note’s UV security layer, adding a subtle detail to the design.

Together, these elements convey wisdom, foresight, resilience, and thoughtful decision-making. 

The “1” monetary denomination is engraved beside “UTAH GOLDBACK.” The note’s weight and metal content are at the bottom, beneath the inscription “The design is complemented by the inscription “Wisdom gives life to those who have it.”

The note displays design elements on the obverse, leaving the reverse blank and mirroring only those on the obverse.
