The Design

It is standard for all Golback Notes designs to feature a feminine figure that symbolizes a particular virtue. 

The Florida 1/4 Goldback features Pax, the Roman virtue of peace, beneath the clear waters of Florida’s Molasses Reef. Holding a branch of seaweed to symbolize reconciliation and a trident representing stewardship of the sea, Pax is surrounded by coral and French angelfish, reflecting the beauty, vitality, and balance of a thriving marine ecosystem. Sunlight filtering through the water reinforces the note’s theme of hope and harmony.

Ultraviolet security artwork enhances the design with drifting jellyfish and a sunken ship, symbolizing patience, renewal, and resilience. An anchor at Pax’s feet represents stability through life’s challenges.

The note’s weight and metal content are at the bottom, beneath the inscription “The ocean stirs the heart,” which serves as a fitting tribute to Florida’s coastal heritage and the enduring value of peace.

The note displays design elements on the obverse, leaving the reverse blank and mirroring only those on the obverse.
