The Design
The Oklahoma 100 Goldback features Libertas, the classical embodiment of Liberty, standing with quiet strength as a symbol of enduring freedom. Behind her are soldiers of the 45th Infantry Division—a unit with deep Oklahoma and Native American roots—shown liberating prisoners from the Dachau concentration camp during WWII.
Symbols of Oklahoma’s heritage are woven throughout the scene: the Great Seal, the state flag, and imagery representing the Five Civilized Tribes. At Libertas’ feet lies a broken shackle, and on her chest hangs a Star of David, acknowledging the victims and significance of the 45th's mission.
Above the horizon, a bald eagle soars through lightning, reflecting the unit’s nickname—the Thunderbirds—and the divine weight of liberty. The quote beneath the artwork reads:
“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”
This note honors not only a virtue, but a legacy of sacrifice, service, and unyielding American spirit.
Goldback Notes
Goldbacks are a unique form of voluntary, non-legal-tender currency, accepted in a growing number of local economies including Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Florida, and Oklahoma.
Each note contains micro-thin layers of 24-karat gold laminated within a durable polymer. Their detailed artwork, fractional gold content, and practical denominations—from 1/2 to 100 Goldbacks—make them a popular alternative for bullion buyers and everyday trade alike.
Though not backed by a government, Goldbacks are prized for their tangible gold content and symbolic designs rooted in classical virtues.
Note: The year of issue may vary depending on available inventory.
